Katherine is preparing to take on the 13 Peaks Challenge in Cape Town, South Africa, a demanding endurance challenge that will test the limits of both body and resolve.
Over the course of 48 continuous hours, Katherine and her team will attempt to summit 13 peaks back-to-back, covering 107 kilometers and 6,700 meters of elevation gain — the equivalent of 66 miles and over 22,000 feet climbed.
This challenge is not about personal achievement.
It is for the people of Sudan — families who have endured years of war, hunger, and displacement, and who continue to survive without pause or certainty.
Each mile Katherine climbs is meant to stand in solidarity with parents protecting their children, doctors working without supplies, and communities holding on with dignity despite unimaginable hardship.
Through #13PeaksForSudan, this climb is an effort to turn endurance into care, and movement into hope for the people of Sudan.
There are many ways to support the people of Sudan through #13PeaksForSudan
You can donate directly, start your own fundraising campaign, or share this effort so it reaches further and brings more people into solidarity with Sudan.
Every action matters
As a small thank-you, donors who contribute $1,000 or more will receive a personal shoutout from Katherine at the top of each of the 13 peaks along the route.
Katherine will also be going live on Instagram as she reaches one of the peaks, sharing the moment in real time and honoring the generosity that helps make this campaign possible.
Sudan is facing one of the largest humanitarian and displacement crises in the world today.
Since the outbreak of war in April 2023, more than 11.8 million people have been forcibly displaced.
Of these, 7.1 million are displaced inside Sudan, while over 4.4 million people have fled to neighboring countries in search of safety.
Families are crossing borders with little more than what they can carry. Many have been displaced multiple times, and urgent needs remain unmet — including food, clean water, shelter, and medical care.
This crisis is ongoing.
And without sustained support, millions of people in Sudan remain at risk.

Follow the journey as it unfolds — not for the climb alone, but for the people it is meant to support.
Be the first to receive updates, photos, and videos from the 13 Peaks Challenge, and see how people around the world are coming together in solidarity with Sudan.
Katherine and her friend will also be sharing updates, reflections, and photos throughout the challenge via their Substack and on social media. Supporters can follow along there as well for real-time moments from the route.
Stay connected as every mile is climbed with the hope of carrying relief, care, and compassion to the people of Sudan.
