El-Fasher Has Fallen. Displacement Is Spreading

As violence spreads from El-Fasher across Darfur and North Kordofan, families are fleeing with nothing but what they can carry, traveling long and dangerous routes in search of safety. Many have arrived in Northern Sudan exhausted, children weakened by hunger, mothers drained, and the elderly struggling to survive the journey.

One of the largest new displacement sites is Al-Affad IDPs Camp, located 20 km from Al-Dabbah. Since 24 October 2025, the camp has rapidly expanded and now shelters around 24,000 displaced people, with 35–40 new families arriving every day. What began as an emergency reception site has quickly become an overcrowded settlement, with services unable to keep pace with growing needs.

Living conditions are severe. With only a handful of functioning latrines, limited access to clean water, and no camp-wide nutrition screening, families face escalating risks of disease, malnutrition, and preventable death.

SAPA’s teams are among the few responders on the ground, providing emergency healthcare, food support, clean water, and protection services through clinics and community-based interventions. These life-saving services are overstretched and urgently need support to continue.

Your donation helps us reach families who have already lost everything and are now fighting to survive.

How SAPA Is Responding to the Crisis

As families continue to arrive in Tawila and Al Affad Camp after fleeing the violence in El-Fasher, SAPA’s teams are working around the clock to deliver life-saving assistance.

Emergency Healthcare

SAPA's medical teams are operating both fixed and mobile clinics that provide emergency treatment for trauma, infections, childbirth, and malnutrition. Our doctors and volunteers are ensuring that even in the most remote areas, families have access to urgent care.

WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene)

To prevent outbreaks of cholera and other waterborne diseases, SAPA is chlorinating community wells, establishing safe water points, and distributing hygiene kits to displaced families.

Food & Nutrition

Through SAPA’s central kitchens in Tawila, we are providing daily hot meals to newly arrived families and therapeutic feeding for malnourished children and mothers.
