In El Geneina, clean water is hard to find and costly to buy. Years of conflict have damaged the city’s water systems. Thousands of displaced families, returnees and host communities now share the few water sources still working, and many rely on water that isn’t safe to drink.
The shortage reaches inside the city’s main hospital too. El Geneina Teaching Hospital has only one water well, and it can no longer supply every department. When water runs short, patients, the hospital and the community around it all face a higher risk of disease.
SAPA is building a new solar-powered water well beside the hospital. It will be a lasting source of safe water that keeps hospital care running and gives neighboring families reliable access to clean water every day.
