Semi Annual Report

Since April 15, 2023, Sudan has endured an escalating health crisis due to the ongoing conflict, deeply affecting the country’s already fragile health system. This turmoil has pushed hospitals and healthcare centers to their limits, obstructing access to critical medical supplies, equipment, and healthcare professionals. The devastating impact on Sudan’s infrastructure compounds the challenge, hindering the consistent delivery of vital healthcare supplies.
At SAPA, we’ve stood firm as Sudan’s largest local medical aid organization, leveraging our local and global networks to offer life-saving assistance during this crisis. With an unwavering commitment to providing essential healthcare, our in-country team, bolstered by the expertise of Sudanese American physicians, has guided our programming, ensuring tailored solutions rooted in local context and innovation.
Our comprehensive report encapsulates our emergency response and preparedness efforts from April to October 2023, forming the blueprint for our future endeavors. Among our significant achievements, we’ve financially supported 13 hospitals and primary healthcare centers across six states, reaching over 4 million people. Through mobile clinics, we’ve served more than 25,000 patients in Gezira State, specifically targeting over 100 IDP gathering points. Our pride rests in the establishment of the SAPA Hospital in Medani, Gezira State, delivering vital secondary healthcare services to 80,000 individuals, free of charge.
Over these months, SAPA’s support has directly impacted over 300,000 beneficiaries, notably prioritizing vulnerable groups—15,000 infants, 60,000 children under 5, and 7,200 pregnant women. Despite numerous challenges—security risks, limited resources, access barriers, and damaged infrastructure—we’ve navigated these hurdles through adaptability and strong partnerships with local entities.
As we look ahead, SAPA remains committed to expanding our aid, emphasizing the needs of displaced individuals, healthcare provision through mobile units, direct support to health facilities, and impactful WASH programs in IDP camps.
Your continued support fuels our perseverance. Together, we stand united, relentlessly striving to bring hope and healthcare to those most in need.
With gratitude,
SAPA Team
