The Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA) is a not-for-profit, scientific, professional, non-partisan, and humanitarian membership-based organization established in January 2019. It serves physicians and other medical professionals of Sudanese descent living and working primarily within the United States. 

SAPA aims to:

• Mobilize crisis response efforts, including fundraising, advocacy, and humanitarian aid, in response to emergencies in Sudan.
• Provide a forum for Sudanese medical professionals in the U.S. to collaborate and share professional interests.
• Inspire and promote the advancement of healthcare, medical practice, education, and research.
• Support and collaborate with physicians and medical societies in Sudan and worldwide through knowledge and technology sharing.
• Develop and implement sustainable healthcare programs to improve accessibility and health outcomes in communities in the U.S. and Sudan.

SAPA offers various programs, including:

4. Child Blindness Initiatives

In response to crises, SAPA mobilizes efforts such as sending medical supplies, providing humanitarian relief, and supporting other relief initiatives. For instance, during recent conflicts, SAPA has been on the ground delivering life-saving healthcare, essential medicines, and vital food supplies to affected families. 

SAPA has significantly impacted Sudan by increasing medical oxygen capacity, supporting families during COVID-19 quarantine, distributing BiPAP machines, providing triage tents for medical care providers, and donating oxygen cylinders to the Federal Ministry of Health in Sudan.
