Uganda holds Eid ul Adha as an official public holiday, yet for millions of its citizens, this day brings no celebration.  An estimated 1.42 million people in Uganda faced high levels of food insecurity in the projection period covering late 2025 and early 2026. In regions like Karenga, Napak, Kaabong, Moroto, and Kotido, between 30 and 45 percent of the population were classified in crisis-level hunger (IPC Phase 3 or above). These are not abstract statistics. These are neighbours, mothers, children.

Qurbani Donation Chad Online: Reaching Africa’s Most Forgotten Refugees

If there is one place in the world right now screaming for Qurbani this Eid, it is Chad. And almost nobody is listening. Chad hosts 1.3 million Sudanese refugees, with over 900,000 of those arriving since the start of the conflict in 2023. In eastern Chad, one in every three people is a refugee. 

The World Food Programme warns that almost 3 million people in Chad (nearly one in six) face severe food insecurity at crisis or emergency level (IPC Phases 3 and 4) during the lean season from June to August 2026. UNHCR and WFP have jointly sounded the alarm that a US$428 million funding shortfall threatens to drastically reduce lifesaving assistance to refugees. As UNHCR’s Representative in Chad stated: “We ended 2025 with only around one-third of the resources needed to fully respond to the refugee emergency in the east.” These families are invisible to the world. 1. Who is obligated to give Qurbani?

Qurbani is Wajib (obligatory) for every adult Muslim who possesses wealth above the Nisab threshold. According to Islamic scholarly consensus, this is equivalent to the value of 87.48g of gold or 612.36g of silver at current market rates. If you are above this threshold, giving Qurbani is not optional it is a duty. 

2. How does SAPA ensure my Qurbani is Shariah-compliant?

SAPA works with vetted local teams and follows strict Islamic guidelines for animal selection, slaughter method, timing, and distribution. All sacrifices occur after the Eid prayer on the 10th–12th of Dhul Hijjah. Animals are inspected beforehand to ensure they meet required health and eligibility standards.
